Stories of Impact: Patterns of Evidence Film Series

At Impact Foundation, we've seen several donor/investors excited about the potential impact of films with a redemptive message. One of those, Patterns of Evidence, is about to release the second movie in its series exploring the archeological evidence for events in the bible. Not only does it offer a hopeful message, but it's also highly entertaining (author's opinion inserted).

Years ago filmmaker Timothy Mahoney faced a crisis of faith, wondering if the foundational events of the Bible were really just a myth. He embarked on a 12-year journey around the world to search for answers. The first movie, Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus, unlocks the mystery of this ancient saga, combining a scientific investigation with a retelling of the Exodus story to reveal an amazing pattern of evidence matching the biblical account that may challenge our understanding of history.

An upcoming film in the Pattens of Evidence young explorers series follows a group of ten kids on a wilderness camping trip as they learn about the physical evidence of Moses and the Israelites' exodus from Egypt.

The Next Chapter

The next Patterns of Evidence films are envisioned as a 7-part series of 55-minute episodes centered around the life of Moses and the journey to Mount Sinai.

Critics contend that no evidence has ever been found for millions of people coming out of Egypt and crossing the wilderness as recorded in the Exodus. They say that miracles are irrational and therefore impossible. They also claim that we can’t trust the Torah (the first 5 books of the Bible), and that it is naive to think that a single author such as Moses wrote them or that they were preserved intact until today.

Each new Patterns of Evidence film will build a case that the events recorded in the Bible actually happened, and allow audiences to explore the unfolding of God’s activity throughout time. Mahoney combines a vivid retelling of the biblical story with traveling to the very locations to see the evidence first hand. He interviews top authorities from both sides of the debate, in an investigation spanning the ancient and modern worlds.

“The thing I love about this film is that Tim Mahoney has taken history and archaeology, and he's looked at it through the lens of Scripture, instead of looking at the Bible through the lens of history and archaeology.”  – Anne Graham Lotz

“I think the facts speak for themselves. To me the beauty of his film in particular, is that it encourages people to say “you know what, maybe I actually can know more about this.” We should all welcome Patterns”. – Eric Metaxas

I've seen the film and I was very impressed with it. I was not only impressed with it, I was overjoyed by it, because it's the best presentation of the material that I've seen.  Norman Geisler – former president of the Evangelical Theological Society

“I believe the Patterns of Evidence film opens the door to the discussion to bring the Exodus back into the realm of the historicity of the event itself. It's just an amazing mass of evidence.” Joseph M. Holden – co-author of The Popular Handbook of Archaeology and the Bible

“This film is marvelous. It gets the right things right. And therefore it is a hallmark. … there is nothing else like it.” Walt Kaiser Old Testament scholar, co-editor and author ‘Zondervan Archaeological Study Bible’

“I think it's going to be a sea change in the way people understand the Jews in Egypt. It's an enormous achievement.” Dennis Prager
