The hearts of Americans have been moved by the images of war between Ukraine and Russia. The toll on human life has been appalling on both sides, and the destruction of Ukrainian energy infrastructure has been widespread. The country was disconnected from Russian power generation and with additional shelling and occupation, more than half of the electric power generated for Ukraine has been impacted, plus the loss of basic services like clean water and medical care.
Due to the large-scale destruction, Ukraine plans to spend $200 Billion to rebuild their power system. To build a system less susceptible to cyber-attacks and surface warfare, they have prioritized decentralization of their power generation assets.
Peregrine's technological innovations bring real value to this decentralization effort across the globe, and we believe that distributed generation is the model of the future. Centralized power generation is prone to cyber and missile attacks, while distributed generation provides protection by permitting communities to meet the needs of the local population, even when the larger grid has been compromised.
