Highland Harvesters
Based in Ethiopia, Highland Harvesters exists to establish a highly profitable agricultural business using modern horticulture methodologies and technologies to create highly productive agribusinesses while being deeply invested in the spiritual, economic, and social growth of the communities in which the farms are located.
At over 8,000 feet, the Southern Highlands of Ethiopia are blessed with rich soil and an ideal climate for apples, which provides the perfect environment for large scale orchards. Ethiopia, with a population of over 100 Million, has been importing over 75% of all apples consumed. The market for domestic consumption and value-add export is immense.
Highland Harvesters was conceived by a few like-minded men, with a passionate vision for a private, profit driven, and sustainable agri-business that would equally Impact the culture of Ethiopia.
Growing apple trees commercially is only the first step in the vision that brings dignified work for the equipping and flourishing of many people, as well as to be a catalyst for projects including value added processing and cold chain supply.
Currently, the apple orchard holds 48,000 fruit trees and employees approximately 150 women and men from the surrounding villages. But this is just the beginning.
